Welcome to Troop 463!

Welcome to Troop 463. We are a Scout-led, high adventure troop that meets at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church in Sandy Springs, GA. We meet every Monday night at the Scout Hut from 7:00 to 8:30 pm (excluding holidays and special occasions). We are thrilled to celebrate our 52nd anniversary on April 1st, 2017. Troop 463 is a part of the Phoenix district in the Atlanta Area council. Every year the Troop goes on hiking, backpacking, and canoeing campouts. We also attend Summer Camp at Woodruff Boy Scout Reservation as well as several other Scout camps throughout the region. Durning the meetings we have different activities such as: learning new scout skills, merit badge classes, listening to guest speakers, and games that we play as a troop.

Eagle Service Projects

Posted on Jun 25 2016 - 2:28pm

There are several Scouts in Troop 463 who are working on their approved Eagle Scout Service Project. Following are some of those projects:

1. Connor Hughes is looking for Scouts and other volunteers to help with his Eagle Service Project on Saturday, June 4, 2016, between the hours of 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Gailey Hall of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church. The church is located at 471 Mt Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Gailey Hall is a small building located near the Johnson Ferry entrance to the church.

Conner’s project involves digging a ditch about 30 ft. long, 2 inches in depth and laying gravel pathway material. The other part of the project which will be completed on a later work day involves planting assorted plants along the path. Conner will be supplying most of the materials, however it would be helpful if Scouts brought shovels.

Water and Lunch will be provided.

Scouts are needed between the hours of 9;00 am and 1:00 pm on Saturday 6/4. They are free to come and go anytime between those hours.

For further information contact Conner Hughes, email:; phone 404-309-0626.

2. Lane Nottingham is working with the Sandy Springs Education Force to collect books for children living in Sandy Springs. The types of books that are needed are: (1) Fictional books for Kindergarten-5th Graders; (2) Simple educational books (Science always great!); (3) ¡Nosotros queremos libros en español también! Time spent asking neighbors, and going through your own bookshelf to donate counts for service. Please bring the books with you over the next 2 meetings, Lane will be there to sign off for your service hours. Just a reminder that the books are meant for elementary school children, and CAN be in Spanish as well.

Order of the Arrow election results

Our troop has had a recent Order of the Arrow election. The Order of the Arrow (OA) recognizes Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. This recognition provides encouragement for others to live these ideals as well. Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others. OA service, activities, adventures, and training for youth and adults are models of quality leadership development and programming that enrich and help to extend Scouting to America's youth. The Scouts honored by being elected are:
